Squaw peak 50

Too tired to type a report but here are some shots from mile 37, 38 and 39. Hardest thing I have ever done. This beast made Leadville look like an icup event. Finished in 11:17 which put me unofficially in 38th place overall, and I am sure it was the fastest time by a “nonrunner”

First false summit

I am in the blue and these pics do not do justice to how steep this 4 mile climb was. Yes we had to climb that and this was only the 2nd of 3 false summits!

Top of the climb at mile 39.5 and yes that is timp in the background.

Hey Zeph is a 100 miler in our future?

Impressive! I have a hard time wrapping my head around someone running 50 miles in one day off-road. Way to go.

How are the legs this morning? Nice work. 38th overall for a runner or non-runner has to feel good. You are sick in the head.

  6. Jonnie J Says:

Nice work Sammy. That is a very respectable time. I have a cane if you want to borrow it for a couple days.

  7. At mile 37-39 I was napping in a hammock and ran out of lemonade. It was tough, but I survived.

Oh, yeah, running 50 miles in the mountains, that’s pretty tough too.

  8. Jason Koop Says:

You totally exceeded your own expectations. Nice work. Dude, sub 12 hrs? First time on an Ultra? You are the man! Still considering GC?

  9. I hear they have a small running race in Leadville. Maybe you should try that one. Nice finish! You have just completed something that many of us cannot even fathom.

  10. okay, if everybody will stop suck sam’s dick for a second, i would like to say that I would like to suck sam’s dick.

  11. Pretty sure you told me you hoped to hit 14 hours a few days before the race. Doing it in 11 and some change qualifies you for Bullsh*’^er of the month…

    Nice job

  12. Bright called you “semi-bionic”, but I’m pretty sure you’ve gone General Grievous on us and are now fully bionic with only your beating human heart somewhere inside your carbon fiber and titanium skeletal rib cage.

  13. That was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me!

  14. Mountain Runner Mike Says:

Done this hill 6 times for SQPK and several more for training. Never gets easier. Well Done
